About the role
bp's Global Lightends business is a leading trading team across gasoline, petrochemicals, renewable fuels, biofuels and circular feedstocks. We combine market expertise, commercial insight and bp's global asset network to bring value and support business growth.
We are looking for a Commercial Manager to help lead our Asia Pacific Lightends business. This is a senior role reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, Global Lightends, and working closely with Trading and Origination leaders.
You will help shape the direction of the business, support commercial performance, strengthen collaboration across teams, and create an environment where people can do their best work while maintaining high standards of safety, ethics and compliance.

What you will do

Business Leadership
• Support the delivery of commercial strategy and business plans across the Asia Pacific region.
• Partner with trading and origination teams to find opportunities, manage priorities and support business growth.
• Lead regional business planning, including financial targets, resource planning and organisational capability needs.
• Facilitate effective decision-making and coordination across the regional leadership team.
• Help align business priorities with wider company objectives and strategic goals.

Commercial Performance
• Support traders and commercial teams in delivering sustainable business performance.
• Provide oversight and guidance on portfolio development, opportunity prioritisation and commercial structures.
• Supervise business performance and help address emerging risks and opportunities.
• Work with teams to improve operational effectiveness and strengthen commercial outcomes.

Risk, Governance and Compliance
• Foster a culture where people act with integrity, speak up, ask questions and raise concerns when needed.
• Ensure trading activities are conducted in line with internal policies, external regulations and the bp Code of Conduct.
• Partner with Compliance, Risk, Credit, Operations and other functions to support responsible decision-making.
• Promote strong governance practices across the business.

People Leadership
• Create an inclusive, respectful and collaborative team environment.
• Support talent development, succession planning and long-term capability building.
• Mentor and develop team members to help them reach their full potential.
• Lead and support members of the Commercial Advisory team.
• Encourage continuous learning, innovation and improvement.

Stakeholder Partnership
• Build strong relationships across trading, analytics, operations, risk, finance, compliance and other business groups.
• Act as a key connection point between the regional trading business and internal customers.
• Work collaboratively with teams across geographies and fields to achieve shared goals.
• Support the ongoing development of the bp Australia commercial interface and operating model.

What we're looking for

Essential Experience
• Degree qualification or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience in commodity trading, commercial operations or market-facing business environments.
• Experience working with gasoline, petrochemicals, renewable fuels or related commodities.
• Experience supporting commercial strategy and business performance.
• Strong understanding of trading markets, value creation, risk management and commercial decision-making.
• Experience building productive partnerships across diverse teams and functions.

• Knowledge of gasoline, petrochemical and renewable feedstock markets in Asia Pacific and global markets.
