The Opportunity:
Join KBR as a Software Team Lead and lead a team of talented software engineers delivering innovative solutions for critical Defence projects. In this hands-on role, you'll provide technical leadership, mentor developers, and drive the delivery of high-quality software while remaining actively involved in the full software development lifecycle. Working closely with project managers and cross-functional teams, you'll foster collaboration, continuous improvement and engineering excellence to deliver secure, reliable and scalable software solutions.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity and can be based in Canberra or Brisbane.
The successful candidate must hold a NV1 security clearance or higher.

Responsibilities:
• Lead, mentor and support a team of software engineers, fostering collaboration, technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Design, develop and maintain high-quality software in accordance with established standards and best practices.
• Provide technical leadership, including task planning, work estimation and code quality oversight.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to the successful delivery of software development sprints.
• Oversee software testing activities, including unit and system testing, to ensure quality and performance.
• Prepare and review technical documentation throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with project managers, technical specialists and stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across software development processes, tools and practices.

As the ideal candidate you will bring:
• Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring software development teams.
• Strong software development experience, including expertise in C# and WPF.
• A solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), software design principles and unit testing.
• Experience delivering software using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational abilities.
• A current NV1 Security Clearance and eligibility to access ITAR-controlled technology.

Desirable:
• Experience with Azure DevOps (ADO/TFS), Git and Microsoft Visual Studio.
• Experience with C, C++, WinForms or .NET MAUI.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Transact-SQL.
• Experience developing software for Defence or other secure, mission-critical environments.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
